Mykola Tomenko wants to clarify why a Helicopter Landing Site is being constructed near the Place of Burial of Taras Shevchenko in the Context of Holding of EURO 2012
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took the floor during the parliamentary scrutiny of the bill on amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Alienation of Privately-Owned Land Plots and Other Objects of Immovable Property located on them for the Social Needs and on the Grounds of Social Necessity" (re objects connected with the holding of the Final Part of the European Football Championship 2012).
The Deputy Chairman reminded that the draft resolution "On the Report of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the Governmental Procurement of Goods, Works and Services for the Needs connected with the Holding of the Final Part of the European Football Championship 2012 in Ukraine" had been registered at the Parliament. "We allowed the Government to use the budget funds for the organization and holding of EURO 2012 without any control, so we are supposed to listen to the Government´s report on the appropriation of these funds," M.Tomenko stated.
According to the Deputy Chairman, "in the context of preparation for the Final Part of the European Football Championship 2012, UAH 3 million were allocated for the construction of a helicopter landing site with the capacity of fifty passengers per hour and an approach road in the village of Pekari of Kaniv district in Cherkasy region." M.Tomenko asked, "What are the footballers going to do in the place of burial of Taras Shevchenko?"
The Deputy Chairman stated that so many land plots were withdrawn in Lviv, Kharkiv and other regions with the purpose of preparation for EURO 2012 that construction on their premises is apparently intended for private needs.
Although the Parliament rejected the bill on amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Alienation of Privately-Owned Land Plots and Other Objects of Immovable Property located on them for the Social Needs and on the Grounds of Social Necessity" (re objects connected with the holding of the Final Part of the European Football Championship 2012), the Deputy Chairman is going to appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine with a request to clarify why a helicopter landing site is being constructed near the place of burial of Taras Shevchenko in the context of holding of EURO 2012.
